From the outside, this beautiful timber cottage looks like it may have once housed early settlers, but inside, it is timber-lined, warm and welcoming. The large living and dining space has an open fire coupled with electric heating and a clean trouble-free kitchen with comfortable furniture.

Double glass doors open up to the large outdoor living deck with a step down to the attractive grassed garden area below -- at dawn or dusk, you will often share the space with one of Bruny Island’s unique White Wallabies - regular visitors to this garden.

Sitting outside with a nice bottle of wine accompanied by exquisite local cheeses and engaging with the stunning bush surroundings, enjoying the forest life whilst taking in the serenity of this truly special place, is a typically mesmerizing Saintys Creek Cottage experience.

Sustainability

Preserving our properties pristine environment is of utmost importance to Bruny Island Coastal Retreats. We have dedicated ourselves to protecting and managing the land which surrounds our accommodations to safeguard the native flora and fauna which inhabit our delicate ecosystems; which unfortunately, are too often rare or critically endangered.

We actively promote responsible waste management by composting all food leftovers and green waste through our large worm farm – a first of its kind in Tasmania – where organic waste is transformed into nutrient-rich compost, thereby, reducing landfill whilst also bolstering our local ecosystems health.

When you choose to stay with Bruny Island Coastal Retreats, you not only indulge in a unique and memorable experience, but also contribute to the conservation of our precious natural heritage. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Beautiful secluded cottage. Outstanding experience. The cottage is beautifully set deep in lush forest with only the sounds of nature to wake you in the morning. I stayed there for two nights with my wife and we could not have been happier. A wonderful place and we will be back. The communication prior to our trip was excellent, our host made sure that we would have the perfect stay.

3rd stay at Sainty’s and hope to come again next year and we are from South Australia. Just love this little slice of paradise, it’s like stepping back in time. Quaint, clean and comfortable. Secluded and picturesque with wild life, warm fires and stars that go on forever. Cheers Ben and Team 10/10

I've been to Bruny Island before and stayed on Cloudy Bay so I wanted something similarly "remote". Surrounded by the bush, lots of "furry" and "feathered" visitors. The cabin is immaculately rustic, very comfortable, had all the facilities needed. A huge surprise was the automatic coffee machine! I'm an avid photographer and the location is ideal. Beautiful creek to walk down to, some bush tracks to explore, lots to photograph during the day. And the astro shots surrounded by trees, brilliant. I planned 3 days and extended by a day, or was that 4 days and stayed 5!!! Highly recommended, would love to return one day.

Thank you! This was exactly what my spirit needed. I hope my brother Mark Van can find the time to also give his spirit the time & peace it will find here one day soon! He recommended this place so highly & he was 100% spot on. Many thanks!

This place was built with love and natural materials. I love the smell and feel of it and the feel of slate and flagstones underfoot. It helps to have all the comforts like a hot shower after a long walk and cool dip at Cloudy Bay. Thanks to the owners and all who came before. And the permanent bird and paddy residents.

Sainty's Cottage is a bird lover's paradise. Superb Fairywrens, Grey Fantails, Tasmanian Scrubwrens, Tas Thornhills, Olive Whistlers, Dusky Robins, New Holland/Yellow-Throated/Black-headed and Strong-billed Honeyeaters all make frequent user of the bird bath. From the refuge of the trees we heard the constant trill of Fantailed Cuckoos, the Yellow Wattlebirds, and Forest Ravens announced their presence. The most wonderful surprise was to see 4 Swift Parrots grazing in the NW of the garden. And then, our constant companions the Pademelons with Joeys in their pouches. We wish we could stay longer in this comfortable and cosy cottage.
