Sustainability

At Bruny Island Coastal Retreats, sustainability is at the heart of our operations. We take pride in the Lodge being an off-grid solar-powered escape, harnessing the suns abundant natural energy, to minimize our environmental impact and ensure your stay is equally comfortable, as it is, eco-friendly.

But our efforts go beyond solar power. We actively promote responsible waste management by composting all food leftovers and green waste through our large worm farm – a first of its kind in Tasmania – where organic waste is transformed into nutrient-rich compost, thereby, reducing landfill whilst also bolstering our local ecosystems health.

Preserving our properties pristine environment is of utmost importance to us. We have dedicated ourselves to protecting and managing the land which surrounds our accommodations to safeguard the native flora and fauna which inhabit our delicate ecosystems; which unfortunately, are too often rare or critically endangered.

When you choose to stay at Bruny Island Lodge, you not only indulge in a unique and memorable experience, but also contribute to the conservation of our precious natural heritage. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Guest Reviews

We spent a long weekend at Bruny Island Lodge with family to celebrate a significant birthday. It was perfect. With three generations (ages from 2 to 70) there was something to keep everyone happy - great views, wildlife and games for the kids. Particularly wonderful for kids of all ages - lots to keep them busy so the grown ups could enjoy the quiet. The accommodation was very comfortable, with lots of separate areas. We were there on a very hot summer weekend so were able to open the living space up to views, but we didn't get to use the several fireplaces which would be lovely in cooler weather. We had a wonderful time and can't recommend enough for a big group, especially with kids.

Beautiful location & fantastic property for a group. Everything you need is provided. The games were much appreciated as was the ice machine, kitchen facilities, plentiful bathrooms & cosy wood fire. We utilised the walking tracks & the panoramic views were beautiful. Will definitely be back & very much appreciate everything that was done to make my milestone birthday so very special !

Thank you for having us. What an epic location with 10/10 facilities for a 30th. Some of the decor will stay in my mind forever - such as Majoram, the life of the party! Some bigger mugs would be great though.
Ginny

Excellent place for an extended group gathering. Ben was fantastic to deal with and has thought of everything in terms of furnishings and equipment. So comfy. The coffee machine was great, our celebration lunch went well and the ice machine is a brilliant idea! (We may have ‘donated’ about 50 golf balls to the surrounding scrub though)
